ARTS CONCERTS SERIES PRESENTS:
The Apollo String Trio, directed by Camilla Boatwright, will be featured in the final segment of the Fine Arts Concert Series on Saturday, May 10, at 7:00 pm, at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Plano. Ms. Boatright, member of the famed Dallas musical family, is the organizer of this ensemble of talented and experienced artists on cello, violin and viola. The featured work of the evening will be Serenade in C Major, by the Neo-Romantic composer Erno Dohnanyi, a leader in post-war Hungary’s musical culture. Kristin Van Cleve, violinist, is originally from Fairbanks, Alaska and received her Master in Violin Performance from the University of North Texas. She is a member of the Dallas Opera Orchestra and performs regularly with the Fort Worth Symphony. Ms. Van Cleve has been on the faculty of Austin College in Sherman, Texas and has served as an early music clinician in Texas and Oklahoma, serving as principal baroque violinist with Fort Worth Early Music and as concertmaster and soloist with the Dallas Bach Society, the Denton Bach Society and the Orchestra of New Spain. Kristen Swanson, violist and composer, graduated from the Cleveland Institute and attended the New England Conservatory of Music. She has taken part in the summer music festivals of Aspen, Sarasota, and Interlochen, as well as Music in the Mountains, Durango, Colorado. Ms. Swanson is currently principal violist of the Texas Chamber Orchestra and performs with the Dallas Opera Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony, Voices of Change, and Texas Winds Musical Outreach, in addition to being an active freelancer and performing chamber music. She has served on the faculty of The Institute for Strings and the University of Dallas. Camilla Boatright, cellist, is a native of Dallas who has been performing professionally since the age of 12. She is a member of the Texas Chamber Orchestra and regularly joins the cello sections of area orchestras, including the Dallas Opera Orchestra. As a chamber musician Ms. Boatright has performed – and recorded -- with Voices of Change, Texas Winds Musical Outreach, and with her parents, Jo and Harvey Boatright, as the Boatright Trio. A graduate of Southern Methodist University, she has toured in Texas and Colorado and has done concerts in the former Soviet Union, the Czech Republic, and at the White House. Ms. Boatright is also the founder of Apollo Strings, a contracting business that hires musicians for special events and concerts.
