NEW HORIZONS BAND OF DALLAS

Lord of Life Lutheran Church Fine Arts/Concert Series presents the first performance of the 2007-2008 season with the New Horizons Band of Dallas in concert on Thursday, 11 October at 7pm.

Under the direction of Dr Robert Austin, the New Horizons Band is unique in that all players are over 50 years old. Coming from all walks of life, these musicians rehearse weekly and are in demand locally to perform at churches, retirement centers, and schools. This eclectic concert begins with the 55-member Concert Band performing showtunes, marches, American classics, patriotic music and even children’s tunes. The second half of the concert will feature the 17-member ensemble Upswing, a jazz band specializing in the lively big band music from the 1930s through the 1950s--all music immediately recognizable to listeners of all generations.
