Kroger is updating its donation program. As of May 1, they no longer accept the “Kroger Cares” card. Sharing God’s Blessings
Christian Estate And Gift Planning
Many months ago discussions were begun to consider the creation of an endowment fund to benefit the continuation of Lord of Life Lutheran Church’s existing ministries into the future. Those preliminary discussions led to the formation of a committee to begin the process of making a formal recommendation to the congregation for the establishment of such a fund.
A congregational endowment is a fund to provide an annual income for specific ministries. These funds are separate and distinct from normal operating budget items. Gifts create the principal or corpus of the fund which is then invested, with the income earned from those investments allocated to ministry. Endowment funds are generated through a number of means: immediate gifts of cash, real estate, securities, etc. either as direct gifts or as memorials or by future gifts, including bequests in wills, life insurance or trusts, etc. This planned giving effort follows the Lord’s command in John 15:16: “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit….fruit that will last.”
The recommendation of the endowment committee will be presented for acceptance at the May Voter’s Assembly in the form of a document entitled Lord of Life of Plano, Texas Endowment Resolution. Copies of the resolution are available in the narthex between now and the Voter’s meeting. Please pick up a copy and acquaint yourself with this vision for continuing the mission of Lord of Life in our community. Then plan to attend the Voter’s meeting to have your questions answered and vote on this important aspect of our stewardship life.
